The most successful 3D combat simulation game ever. This is war, 31st century-style. You are a pilot of a megaton war machine called a "Mech." You are set in a virtual 3D cockpit accompanied by high quality graphics and great audio. The appeal and staying power of this game has been in the versatility and variability in the gameplay. When you are ready for combat, you can choose your Mech, choose your weaponry, choose your mission, choose your environment, choose your battle conditions, choose on and on. With the accompanying NET MECH, you can even choose your opponent online! The subculture around this game is testimony enough.
'Nuff said, several people on our staff are crazy about this game.
<Surn> This is Activision's greatest game. This 3D combat simulator has so many variables that keep the game challenging and keeps you coming
back. It is such a tactical challenge that only the state of the technology will put this game to rest! One word - replayability. You can change locations from rolling hills to an urban environment to forrest, to canyons. You can change environmental conditions: low to high gravity; hot and cold temperatures. What is great is that you, the player have a lot to do with the design of your Mech. You choose the specs of your vehicle, its weaponry and armor. See what I mean by replayability? You change the Mech according to the environment/battle you choose. Each change creats a whole new game! This game is so awesome that Ultimate Gamer is holding tournaments online. Best of all, the DOS multi-player version is free!
<Spamtrix> here we go again, big war machines
<Vi-Rex> what are you doing over there?
<Spamtrix> Playing with the format, they can't do anything about us, so why not?
<WeAponX> Even though this game has been around for two years, it still is one of the best games around. Based on FASA's "Battletech" RPG, you have the opportunity to fight against the dreaded Clan Jade Falcon or Clan Wolf for strategic territory and equipment. You get to drive giant 35-100 ton vehicles called "Mechs." These Mechs hold a variety of weapons such as long range missiles, machine guns, various lasers, and my favorite, ultra auto cannons! Some of these Mechs have jump jets, and if the Mech isn't equipped the way you want, you can change the configuration yourself. You can have any combination of weapons equipment and armor ( armor and heat sinks, very important!) available to that particular Mech chassis.
Through the process of winning each mission, you acquire a higher rank until you become the Kahn ñ the big cheese! BUT, there is another way to play MW2. Included with the game is NET MECH. This is the online version that allows you join an actual clan or group of bandits or mercenaries (like the Shadow Rat Marauders) and be involved in a fight to the death on the battlefields of a games server (like Kali). In the Grand Council there are many Clans to joinÖIF you can survive the trial which the Clan's Recruiting Captain will require you to pass!
<Vi-Rex> But stay away from the Clan Flaming Pink Flamingos, they're such bitches!
